Our dear brother, Clifford E. Hoke, (88), answered his final call to the post at his New Albany home on Feb. 15, 2025
Born April 16, 1936 - A lifelong New Albany resident, UNC, as he was called by many, was the son of the late Alva Hoke and Ida L. Hoke (Emily).
Clifford was a graduate of New Albany High and a member of the National Honor Society.
An avid sports fan, he really loved the Indiana Hoosiers, but most of all he loved going to the horse racetrack with his buddies, and he attended many Derbys with his dad.
He worked for the Courier Journal, Night Owl Food Mart, and Little Tiger Food Mart before his retirement.
He was a big cat lover with many beloved cats over the years, especially Bow Bow, who slept with him until the very end.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, William Vetter; and sister-in-law Martha Hoke (Bush).
Left to cherish his memory are brother, Calvin E. Hoke; sisters, Joyce M. Vetter, and Judy M. Hoke, who was his constant caregiver for many years; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Clifford will be held at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes, 1119 E. Market Street, Friday, Feb 21 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Clifford will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
