Dallas Leon Alstott Obituary

New Albany, Indiana - Our dad, Dallas "Leon" Alstott, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born in New Albany, Indiana on July 28, 1941, to the late Dallas and Nina (Rainbolt) Alstott. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jane (Floyd) Alstott, in 2023. Other family members preceding Dad in death were a niece, Chris Attwood, one step-son, Ricky Floyd, and one step-daughter, Carol Davis. Dad is survived by one brother, Dennis (Georgie) Alstott of Henryville, IN; one sister, Janice (Mike) Smith of Pleasant Hill, TN; one daughter, Kim (Harold) Clark of Franklin, NC; two sons, Ken (Sara) Alstott of Clarksville, TN and Kelly (Stacey) Alstott of Wyoming, DE; step-daughter, Donna Weisbach of Gainesville, GA. Our dad also survived by his grandchildren: Kari (Steve) Huntley, Heather (Dave) Baldwin, Kristin Alstott, Blake (Ashley) Alstott, Kyra Alstott, Nicole Alstott, and Marcus Alstott, as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Dad served in The U.S. Army National Guard from 1959 to 1963. He was very patriotic and proud of his family members that later served our country: Ken (Army), Kelly (retired Air Force), and Kristin (retired Army). Dad operated "Alstott's Propane Gas Company" in New Albany from 1963 until May 1979. After a ten-year sprint in Florida Dad moved back to New Albany working for "Pearce Bottle Gas", "Shelby County Co-Op", and later for "New Albany Ford Tractor" before permanently retiring. He spent his later years after retirement taking care of Jane, their house, and keeping his yard mowed meticulously. Dad always found great pleasure in sightseeing around the United States, boating, and playing pranks on people, all of which he will be fondly remembered! We want to give recognition to a very special pair of neighbors that have gone above and beyond checking in on Dad and feeding him some wonderful meals over the last couple of years when one of us kids couldn't be there - THANK YOU Steve & Angie Rawlings from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Dad's funeral will be held on Saturday, July 5th, with our cousin, Rev. Tony Alstott, officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes from 4pm to 6pm with the service to immediately follow at 6pm.

Burial will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park on Monday morning, July 7th.

Donations may be made in his memory to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
