New Albany, Indiana - David Melvin Kinchlow Sr., born on March 26, 1935, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in his hometown. He was a cherished member of his community and he leaves behind a legacy of love and service.

David had a distinguished career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, serving diligently for 39 years. He was a proud graduate of New Albany High School, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance that were instilled in him from an early age.

In his personal life, David found joy in many pursuits. He loved spending time with his beloved German Shepherds,and tooling around his house with various carpentry projects. Basketball was a passion of his, and he cherished the memories of attending Second Baptist Church where his father served as an associate minister. David enjoyed singing in the church choirs, most notably "Peace Be Still," which reflected his deep faith and connection to his spiritual roots.

David is survived by his loving family. He is the father of four children: Donna Maria Kinchlow, Gina Lois Kinchlow, David Melvin Kinchlow, Jr., and Rhonda Sue Kinchlow. He was a proud grandfather to Wade Aaron Kelly, Kiyanna (Robert) Coleman, and David Christopher Kinchlow, and he leaves behind five great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Additionally, he is remembered by his niece Kathleen Wilkerson, nephews Ronnie Wilkerson, Danny Wilkerson, David Manuel, and Santon Allred.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Kinchlow, and his parents, Charles Boyd and Elsie Lillie Kinchlow. He was also predeceased by his sister, Geneva Wilkerson, and half-brothers, Lawrence Allred and Elmer Allred.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.

David's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life and share memories of a man who touched so many with his kindness and spirit.
