New Albany, Indiana - David Frederic Kunzman, 96, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on May 12, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. He was born in New Albany to the late Carl Richard and Rose Marie (Ramsier) Kunzman. As a lifelong resident of New Albany, he was a 1947 graduate of New Albany High School and a longtime member of Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder under four pastors and intermittently as the clerk of Session. He graduated from Indiana University in 1955 earning his bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Geography, and went on to work for the U.S. Government's Defense Mapping Agency as Branch Division Chief until his retirement in 1993.
David loved hiking and camping in the Smoky Mountains, taking photographs, ringing the Salvation Army bell at Christmas, and hosting holiday gatherings. He was known for his kindness and generosity.
Survivors include his son David Richard Kunzman (Tammy), his daughters Sandra Marie Sims (Rex) and Deborah Ann Swearingen (Todd, deceased), his brother John Mark Kunzman, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years Kathleen Marie (Blankenbaker) Kunzman, sister Betty C. Kunzman, and son-in-law James Todd Swearingen.
Visitation will be from 1-6 PM Sunday at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1119 E. Market St., New Albany 47150).
His funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church (918 Mount Tabor Rd. New Albany) with visitation after 9 AM. Graveside services to follow at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
