David Turner Schmidt Obituary

Dunedin, FL - David Turner Schmidt, 74, of Dunedin, Florida, formerly of Southern Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2026.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Dave was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Schmidt; mother, Geraldine Herron; and stepfather, Bill Herron. He was a respected member of the Jeffersonville Police Department, retiring after over 20 years of service. Dave was also an alumni of Providence High School.

Above all else, Dave was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He was known for his kindness and his caring nature. He was also known as the neighborhood "fix-it" man, and a sincere friend to all. Drumming was his passion, and he was an

exceptionally talented musician. He also enjoyed his time in the sun and evening sunsets.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tina; his daughters Kelly Duggins (Patrick) and Keri Wetzel (Gavin); stepchildren Jeffrey Brown (Lisa) and Tracey Capone; brother Robert Schmidt (Beth); and six cherished grandchildren: Grace, Miles, Sean, Andy, Owen, and Leo.

A private celebration of life will be held by his family, as he wished.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Jeffersonville FOP Lodge 100.

Dave will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
