Danbury, CT - Deloris "Dee" Heavrin, 70, of Danbury, Connecticut, formerly of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, after many years of health challenges.
Born in New Albany, Dee proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii and later pursued her passion for music as a vocalist, performing with bands throughout the 1970s and '80s, including Louisville's Bobby Lanz Band. After moving to Danbury in 1980, she worked as a relocation specialist before retiring. She continued singing with Connecticut doo-wop groups "In Harmony" and "Harmony Street," delighting audiences across the tristate area.
Dee was also a dedicated gardener, a former Connecticut lightweight bodybuilding champion, and a woman of strong faith. She shared 48 wonderful years with her beloved companion, Robin Miller, filling their life together with music, laughter, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Heavrin and Lula Bell Burns, several siblings, and her niece, Phoenix Weigleb. Survivors include her sisters, Sherry Bledsoe (Jim) and Cindy Shelton, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 19 at 1 p.m. at Forward Church, 341 Vincennes Street, New Albany, with funeral services at 2 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather for light refreshments following the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
