New Albany, Indiana - Donald L. Richert, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at The Waters of Georgetown in Georgetown, IN.

He was born in Floyd County, IN to the late Lee and Mary Catherine (Jones) Richert. Donald was a 1957 graduate of New Albany High School where he was active in several sports including football and wrestling. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army and then to work for the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant for over 39 years until his retirement.

Donnie enjoyed many activities during his life including playing Euchre, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed coaching his kids in softball and football but most of all he enjoyed attending games even when his own kids were no longer playing. He and his wife of 65 years, Loretta, were longtime members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta (Goffinet) Richert; his daughter, Chanda Daily (Patrick); his son, Deron Richert (Tammy); his sister, Linda Schmidt; his grandchildren, Lauren, Jessica, Shelby, Christian, Ella, Caleb; and six great-grandchildren.

Donnie's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the care staff at the Waters of Georgetown. They treated him with as much love and compassion as if he were a member of their own family.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes, 1119 E. Market St., New Albany.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
