New Albany, Indiana - Dorothy Ann(Dot) Philpot Ott, 80, passed away surrounded by her family on June 5th, 2026 after a brief illness. Born on January 11th, 1946 in New Albany, Indiana to Eugene Philpot and Dorothy Bezy Philpot, she graduated from Lanesville High School in 1964. She married Dennis Ott in 1966 and together they started a family and a construction company, which grew into successful business. Dot built custom homes, owned a furniture store, and in later years spent countless hours volunteering and raising funds for charity organizations such Rauch, The Salvation Army, Relay For Life, The Epilepsy Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club, and The Angel Tree. She was the recipient of the IUS Chancellor's Medallion Award, The Salvation Army Service to Mankind, and Lifetime Service Awards.

Dot expressed her creativity through sewing, photography and painting. She loved Christmas and making holidays special for her family. She travelled extensively, including all 50 states and many international trips. Dot was known for her humor, boundless generosity, compassion and love for others. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother(Bobby)., She is survived by three daughters: Laura(Mark) McAdams, Debbie Hall, and Denise(Adam) Kempf, along with six grandchildren: Nicholas, Emma(Andrew), Grace, Michael, Olivia, and Rosie, and one great-grandchild: Benjamin. She is also survived by her siblings: Carol Uesseler, David Philpot, Elaine Basham, Joyce(Jeff) Bray, and Susan(Hal) Rhea, her former husband and lifelong friend, Dennis Ott, numerous nieces and nephews, and a large circle of close friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday June 11, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church(316 N. Sherwood Ave. Clarksville, IN.) with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1119 E. Market St. New Albany, IN.) from 2 - 8 PM Wednesday and at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Thursday before the mass.
