Funeral services for Edwin M. "Little Tuck" Coots Jr. III, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Clark Memorial Hospital.. He was a fourth generation funeral director operating E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1348, Elks Club Lodge 362, Eagles Lodge 1527, American Legion Post 35, VFW Post 1832, and was active in JayCee. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.. Prior to his election as Coroner he served as a Deputy Coroner. He was first elected Coroner in 1960 and served as Coroner or Deputy Coroner until 2008. He also served the community in a local ambulance service until 1972.. While he had a passion for serving his community, his hobbies included spending time with family and friends while boating along the Ohio River.. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Freda Ann Weber Coots; his son, Edwin M. "Huck" Coots IV, Jeffersonville; his daughters, Anne Woods and her husband, Jack, Clarksville, Leslie Taylor and her husband, Robert, Jeffersonville, Sarah Short and her husband, Greg, Jeffersonville and Jennifer Draggoo and her husband, Dwayne, Jeffersonville; his sister, Barbara Bibb, Jeffersonville; 10 grandchildren, Bradley Woods, Aaron Woods, Emily Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Sophia Coots, Edwin "Tucker" Coots, Lydia Coots, Elizabeth Short, Mary Catherine Short and Amanda Bray.. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin M. "Big Tuck" Coots and mother, Evelyn Coots.. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.
