Ella (Andres) Scoudan Obituary

Velpen, IN - Ella (Andres) Scoudan, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Jasper, IN, surrounded by her loving family.

Born the second of seven girls to hardworking farming and furniture-making parents, Ella came into the world at the end of the Great Depression. That upbringing shaped a lifelong strength, creativity, and fiercely independent spirit that influenced her younger sisters, deepened her lifelong friendships, and captured the heart of the man she married.

Ella and her husband moved often as they chased their version of the American dream, living for decades in Florida, though Ella's heart always belonged to southern Indiana which she returned to several years ago. Together, they raised two children, remained steadfastly in their granddaughter's life, traveled to every state, and cruised the oceans around our continent, building memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Professionally, Ella enjoyed a long and respected career in the banking industry where she was as invaluable as she was at home, but home is where her greatest artistry came through. A woman of impeccable taste and flair, she brought beauty to everything she touched—through fashion, interior design, and especially in the kitchen. As an extraordinary home chef, she dazzled family and friends with an endless repertoire of lovingly prepared dishes which will never be forgotten.

Ella will be remembered for her charming smile, remarkable inner and outer beauty, her loyalty, her passion for family, and her ability to live every day, and face any challenge with dignity and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Isabelle, her sister Doris, and her beloved husband Ernest. She is survived by the remaining "Andres Sisters"; daughters Laura Wininger and Leigha Scoudan; granddaughter Miranda Birkle; a great grandson; and an endless number of extended family members who miss her deeply.

"She was a lady, and a lady always knows when to leave."
