Flossie Mae Toran gracefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1929, in Jeffersonville, IN. A woman of remarkable intellect and character, she lived a life marked by service, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
She graduated as valedictorian from the historic Taylor High School in Jeffersonville at the age of 16. She was a lifelong and devout member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, IN. She was a former member of the New Albany Professional Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary, and she retired from the New Albany Floyd County School System.
Flossie was preceded in death by her husband, Marion (Bunky) Toran; father and mother, Roy and Ineal Caldwell; and her siblings, Leroy Caldwell, Dorothy Bowyer, and Freddie Caldwell. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ronald L. Toran, Debra K. Toran, Marilyn L. Parris, and Glenda J. (Darryl) Frazier; grandchildren: Rev. Anthony B. (Belinda) Toran, Ronald L. (Ann) Brown, Charise T. (Dawn) Frazier, and Charell L. Frazier; great-grandchildren: Zoi Brown, Terence Brown, Isaiah Frazier, Olivia Jenkins, Kyla Davis and Ethan Baker; sister-in-law: Florence Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Galatian Missionary Baptist Church, 2020 Maryland Avenue, New Albany, IN.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1506 Spring Street, Jeffersonville, IN.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be held at West Haven Cemetery, 1145 West Street, New Albany, IN.
