Fred Day, 92, of Memphis, IN, passed away peacefully at 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home.
Fred was born Wednesday, February 8, 1928 in Whitesburg, KY. He was the son of Zach Day and Cora (Boggs) Stamper, who are both deceased.
On Saturday, January 17, 1953 in Jeffersonville, IN, he married Kathleen (Sizemore) Day, who survives in Memphis, IN. They were blessed to be together for 67 years.
Fred was a heavy equipment operator for Clark-Floyd Landfill where he worked for 30 years, retiring when he was 77 years old. He was a member of the Safe Harbor Christian Church, enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, taking care of his chickens, mowing grass, raising a garden, and most of all, he loved his family.
Survivors include his children, Debbie (Mike) Martin of Pekin, IN, Mickey (Patty) Day of Memphis, IN, Sandy (Tony) Harbeson of Scottsburg, IN, and Vicky (Kevin) Beyl of Borden, IN; 10 grandchildren, Sonia Bailey, Shannon Richard, Carman Lord, Crystal Helton, Michelle Walker, Michael Day, Fred Day, Amber Jones, Johnathon Burns, and Levi Beyl; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and J.D. and three sisters, Maxie, Dixie, and June.
Fred will be buried in Bowery Cemetery in Memphis, IN.
