Gilbert Lindburgh Bridges Jr., 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11:43 a.m. at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY..

Gilbert was born on Friday, November 25, 1949 in Jeffersonville, IN. He was the son of the late Gilbert L. Bridges Sr. and Alice Jane (McMinoway) Bridges.

Gilbert was a 1967 graduate of Henryville High School. He retired in 2012 after 20 years of service at Ford Motor Co., was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 0605, was owner and operator of Gilbert L. Bridges & Sons Inc. Heating and Air.

On Saturday, November 24, 1973 at Henryville Baptist Church in Henryville, IN, Gilbert married Sharon Leah (Jenkins) Bridges who survives in Henryville, IN.

Gilbert is a member of Blue Lick Christian Church, enjoyed woodworking, making things, traveling, and riding roller coasters. He was a member of the Henryville Masonic Lodge #651 where he served as a two times Past Master and Secretary. He held a dual membership at the Milford Lodge #158 in Bedford, KY and served as Senior Warden. He was an honorary member of the following lodges: Salem #21, New Washington #167, 6 Mile #412, Depauw #419, Georgetown #480, Scottsburg #572, Hanover #652, Butlerville #219, Clark #40, New Albany #39, Osgood #603, Blazing Star #226. He was a member of the Clark County Past Master's Society and thoroughly enjoyed the Traveling Masonic Posse.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon of Henryville, IN; his children, Matthew Douglas (Amanda) Bridges of Otisco, IN, Stephanie Suzette (Steven) Shaw of Memphis, IN, and Gilbert Lindburgh Bridges III of Henryville, IN; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Bridges, Nathan Lilies, Abigail Bridges, Emma Bridges, Jack Bridges, Aiden Shaw, Ethan Shaw, Kennedy Bridges, Gilbert L. Bridges IV, and Paisley Jane Bridges; one sister, Lelani (Jack) Travers of Okahumpka, FL, and one brother, Jeff Allen (Cheryl) Bridges Sr. of Memphis, IN.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Suzette Margio.

Pastor Brian Jenkins and the Masonic Lodges will conduct funeral services on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., all at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville.

Interment will be held at a later date at the Mt Zion Cemetery columbarium.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be given to the Henryville Masonic Lodge #651.
