Henryville, IN - Gregory 'Greg' Lee Mikel passed on July 18, 2026, at the age of 64. He was born on July 28, 1961, in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late James Mikel and Wanda Page.

Greg built a remarkable career in the entertainment industry, touring as a lighting and sound technician with Abraham Rush, Buster Brown, and Sawyer Brown. He also served as lighting director for Hank Williams Jr. during the tour that reached the No. 1 spot in the country, a milestone he was especially proud to have been part of. Thirty years ago, Greg became a member of Local 17 of the IATSE Stagehands Union. He served as Prop Manager at the Palace Theatre in downtown Louisville, where he was respected by colleagues and valued for his skill.

Greg had a compassion for helping animals. He was deeply committed to rescuing and caring for dogs, helping save the lives of more than 500 over the years.

His generosity extended to his family as well. Six years ago, he lovingly cared for his mother during the final days of her life. Greg will be remembered not only for his talents and accomplishments but also for his kind heart, selflessness, and the countless lives-both human and animal- that he touched.

Greg is survived by his brothers, Scott Mikel (Diana) and Troy Mikel (Sherry); Nephews, Aaron Mikel (Jessica) and Alex Mikel (Rachel); Niece, Cheyenne Mikel (David Cissell); Great-Nephews, Lincoln and Archer; and his dogs, Maggie & Ella.

In addition to his parents, Greg is preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Page.

A memorial visitation will be held Kraft Funeral Home (2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN 47150) on Saturday, July 25th from 10:00 am -12:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
