Henryville - Rev. Irene L. Stuart was an Honorably Retired member of the Presbytery of Ohio Valley (Indiana) having served the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in various capacities beginning in New York City in 1956 and extending to her retirement from the Grammer, Indiana Presbyterian Church in 1997.
Irene may be remembered for years of community service in New Jersey as an EMT, leader of Cubs, Girl Scouts, and 4-Hers, Christian Education, Synod of New Jersey/New England Music Camp Director, choral and orchestral participant and Pastor and Supply Minister in New York, New Jersey, and Indiana. She and her family raised several rescue dogs and puppies for The Seeing Eye.
Irene attended First Presbyterian Church in Scottsburg and was a longtime friend of Henryville United Methodist Church. She married John D. "Jack" Stuart in 1960. He passed in 2015.
She is survived by daughter, Deanna J.; son, John L. (Jyll); brothers, John (Lynda) Moser and William (Ellen) Moser; granddaughters, Gabrielle and Ana Stuart; nieces, Holly (Frank) Congiusta and Katherine (John) Hughes; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews Elizabeth, Frank, and Robert Congiusta.
On July 13 at 10 a.m. a memorial service will be held to honor the life of Irene at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Henryville. Friends and family may visit from 9 a.m. until time of the service on the same day.
Cremation has been entrusted to Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Henryville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to The Seeing Eye (Morristown, NJ) or the Henryville Community Food Pantry.
