New Albany, Indiana - James "Jerry" Jerome Hess, 74, of New Albany, IN passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.

Born on September 17, 1950, he was the son of James Hess and Mary Lou Hess Modica.

Jerry was known for his friendly demeanor and infectious laughter. He was a skilled meat cutter at Winn Dixie and cherished the time he spent socializing with friends, especially over lunch. He was also a passionate cook who enjoyed creating delicious meals.

Jerry leaves behind his loving mother, Mary Lou Hess Modica of New Albany; his brothers, Lou Hess (Michele) and Matthew Hess (Debbie), both of New Albany; and his nephews, Ben, James, and Elliot Hess.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Hess.

Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Jerry's life at a memorial visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4 to to 8 p.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home.
