James "Jim" R. Short Obituary
New Albany, Indiana - James (Jim) R. Short, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 88 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Glasgow, KY. on February 17, 1938, to Rodman and Altie (Jones) Short.
He proudly served his country as a member of the USA Navy.
In his 34 years at the Federal Reserve Bank, he wore many hats. In those days he enjoyed many bank picnics, ball games, golf outings and loved it all. He is probably making tee times in heaven with all those guys.
He spent many hours supporting his church, Tunnel Hill Christian Church and loved singing in the choir.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, Rodman, Jr., John and Kenny, Sisters, Ruby, Sandra, Linda, Phyllis and Beverly.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Joyce (Staton) Short, his son, Steve (Cindy), daughters: Terri Goodwin(Kevin) and Bonnie Griesinger(Juan), brothers, Billy(Carlotta) and Donnie(Terri), grandchildren, Stephanie Griesinger(Jeremy), Dale Griesinger(Kelsey), Abby Short, Chris Short(Kelsey) and Jessica Goodwin, Great grandchildren, Braden, Traci, Lukas, Keegan and Colten, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday May 5, 2026 at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1119 E. Market St.) with entombment in SCI-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 - 7 PM Monday.
Memorial contributions may be given to Tunnel Hill Christian Church or the Charity of your choice.
