John Robert Ellnor III, 82, passed away on January 14, 2025 at home surrounded by friends and family. He was born September 5, 1942 in Danville, KY to the late John Robert and Earlamae (Wainscott) Ellnor Jr.

Bobby, as many of his close friends called him, was a stalwart member of the Southern Indiana community who he served in a number of capacities. He began his career in 1963 at Union Bank and in June of 1967 joined Wesbanco (then, First Federal Savings and Loan) as a Mortgage officer. Over the next 30 years, he helped grow countless businesses in the community as well as advising and aiding families. In 1997 he retired as Executive Vice President. In those interim years he played a significant role in navigating that institution from a savings and loan to the regional commercial banking institution it is today.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Earlamae Ellnor; his first wife of 43 years, Linda (Lausman) Ellnor, and his son, David Scott Ellnor.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Barbara (Crone Ritter) Ellnor; his brother, Mark (Kathie) Ellnor; his children, John Robert Ellnor IV, Daniel (Denise) Ellnor and Carly (Mark) Kane; his grandchildren, Amber (Gerald) Bananafish, John Robert (Alyssa Davis) Ellnor V, Benjamin Scott Ellnor, Gabriel Ellnor, Grace Ellnor, Robbie (Devyn Goemmer) Lindsey and Riley Lindsey; a great-grandson, Grayson Lindsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
