New Albany, Indiana - John "Monty" Montgomery Givens, straight out of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on June 12, 2025. He was born on May 12, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John Givens and Doris (Jackman) Nasseth. Monty was a graduate of New Albany High School (1969) and Georgetown College (1973) where he received a bachelor's degree in education and business. He retired from MOOG Louisville Warehouse after 38 years of employment. Monty loved listening to and playing music, cheering for his favorite sports teams including the New Albany Bulldogs and Indiana Hoosiers, boating, golfing, and being a papaw to his sole grandchild, Beckett.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darci Lang Givens; daughters, Ginger Givens (John Gettelfinger), Chelsey Oakes (Tyler); sister, Marla Kelley (Fred); grandson, Beckett Montgomery Oakes; and beloved dog, Maui

A memorial visitation for Monty will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
