Pendleton, Indiana - Juanita "Dawn" (Boggs) Elston was born February 15, 1940 in Lexington, KY.

She was the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Sigmon) Boggs and 1958 graduate of Vevay High School. She attended Indiana University School of Music, received her bachelors in special education and her masters from Indiana University Southeast.

Dawn was a former elementary education teacher for the Prince of Peace Catholic School, Sacred Heart Catholic School, special education teacher for Greater Clark Schools and for Jefferson County Public Schools. Dawn was a church organist for various churches for 75 years. She was a member of the Bennington and Middletown Order of Eastern Star Chapters and was past grand organist from 2017-2018. Dawn died February 6, 2025, at Rawlins House Nursing Home.

Survivors: daughters, Dee Ann (Jim) DeShon of Pendleton, and Rev. Debbie Elston (Rev. Robert) Harmon of Muncie; grandchildren, Robbie Ferguson of Plainfield, and Anthony Ferguson of Indianapolis; step-grandchildren, Mathew (Taina) DeShon of Lexington, KY, Brandon (Brittany) DeShon of St. Charles, MO and Bryan DeShon of Elizabethtown, KY; five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Linda) Boggs of Bonita Springs, FL; and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence "Dillion" Elston; infant daughter, Damita; brother, Larry (Janet) Boggs; niece, Jennifer Lynn Boggs; nephew, Grant Boggs; and great-nephew, Trevor Kyle Boggs.

Visitation, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with service to follow on Saturday, February 15, 2025, Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, IN. 47043. Interment: Vevay Cemetery.
