New Albany, IN - Larry Frank Hoon, 69, of New Albany, IN, passed away at home Thursday, August 28, 2025. He was born

in Saginaw, Michigan on February 26, 1956 to the late Russell and Dorothy (Bauer) Hoon.

Larry was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul High School and acquired his bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 1979. As an avid runner, he ran track and cross country for SVSU and continued his enthusiasm for the sport after college, participating in marathons, including the Boston and Miami Orange Bowl Marathons. Later in life he took up coaching elementary school track. He passed his love of running down to his sons, who all participated in the sport in one capacity or another, from running for New Albany High School to racing annual 5-milers. Larry loved the ocean and enjoyed music. He frequented local concerts with his family and could often be found listening to music from his extensive record collection. Larry is remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather (Pops). He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Family members mourning the loss of Larry are his cherished wife of 40 years, Kathy (Moran) Hoon;

sons, Russell Hoon (Sagan Massey), Alan Hoon, and Kyle Hoon; granddaughter, Oona Hoon, and many

other loved ones.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm at Naville & Seabrook

Funeral Home, 1119 E Market Street, New Albany, IN, with the Funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary Catholic Church, 415 E 8th St., New Albany, IN at 1:00 pm. Burial is to follow Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Charlestown Rd, New Albany, IN.
