Lillian Schaefer Wells Obituary

New Albany, Indiana - but lost her battle to COPD. She was born on July 13, 1934, to Harold and Florence (Prestine) Schaefer in Riverdale, lL. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Caroline Scott.

Lillian graduated from Indiana University with a bachelors degree in Art. Her passion was realized later in life when she became a social worker for Independent Industries in Louisville and retired from Rauch Industries in 2012. She loved teaching, mentoring and guiding the mentally and physically challenged. She was a true servant leader.

She is survived by her sons, Bill, Kenny (Amy), Mike (Katie) and Terry (Charlotte); her grandchildren, William, Andrea, Abby McKinney (Ross), Lucas (Bridget), Sonny, Joel, Veronica and Melody; her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Kaitlin, Payton, Gage, Bentley, Eamon, Kieran, Shayleen and a surprise little one coming in April 2021.

The family would like to thank Hosparus of New Albany, Indiana for the outstanding care they provided to Lillian over the past three years. Also, her caregivers, Sheila Bailey and Nancy Brown as well as Renee, Rosemary and David. She loved them like family.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, beginning at 3 p.m. at Spring Valley Funeral Home located at 1217 E. Spring Street in New Albany. A service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rauch Industries, Northside Christian Church or Hosparus of New Albany.
