Lorraine "Lori" Forest (T.) Obituary
Jeffersonville, Indiana - Lorraine "Lori" T. Forest, 88, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Norton Clark Hospital. She was born December 10, 1935 to the late Andre and Rosanna Guyon in Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
Lori's professional journey was marked by diverse experiences. She began her career with the Department of the Army, later transitioning to the Department of the Air Force in Arizona, and ultimately contributing her skills at the Nevada Test Site and Tonopah Test Range. It was during her time at Tonopah in 1982 that she dedicated her life to the Lord, a decision that profoundly shaped her path.
In 1987, Lori received a spiritual calling that led her to Jeffersonville in 1991. Though she arrived knowing no one, she embraced the opportunity, starting with a temporary job that eventually blossomed into a fulfilling career with the U.S. Postal Service, from which she retired at the age of 70 in 2006.
Retirement ushered in a new chapter of adventure and personal growth. Lori pursued her passion for martial arts, achieving the rank of 2nd-degree black belt before health concerns prompted her to shift gears. She then discovered a love for shooting, exemplifying her zest for life.
Lori's younger years were equally vibrant. She earned the title of Life Master in contract bridge and embarked on meaningful endeavors, including serving on a Mercy Ship in the early 1960s and white-water rafting in Scotland in the late 1960s.
Throughout her life's journey, Lori maintained a deep faith, acknowledging God's constant presence and protection, even playfully admitting that she kept Him busy. Her life was a testament to her adventurous spirit, resilience, and unwavering belief.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie Ruel of Plymouth, CT; brother Roger Theroux of Kansas City, KS; sister Denise Ruel of Republic, MO; grandchildren, Courtney Forest of Corydon, IN, and Alexander Forest of Elizabeth, IN; nieces, Deborah Jensen of Portsmouth, VA, and Melissa Silva of Fort Worth, TX.
