Jeffersonville, Indiana - Mardelle Hartlauf, 86, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on April 28, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 6, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ivy J. Howell and Lura I. Clopton Howell.


Mardelle will be remembered as someone who was hard-working and devoted. She carried herself with resilience through life's changes and always had a caring heart that left a lasting impression on those who knew her.


On August 15, 1971, she married the love of her life, Milt Hartlauf Sr. Their marriage stood as a testament to faithful devotion and enduring love.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Milt Hartlauf Sr.; her daughter and her husband, Beverly Davis (Jim); her brother, Billy Howell; a son-in-law, Lance Cheever and a daughter-in-law, Kim Hartlauf.


She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Cheever and Carrie Poindexter (Buster); a son, Milt Hartlauf Jr.; a sister, Linda Howell; grandchildren, Katie Lenfert (Jace), Mallory Cheever, Bryan Neuner (Hilari), Kimberly Brewer, Jeremy Hartlauf (Erica), and Eric Hartlauf (Jill); a niece, Shannon Howell; a nephew, Bill Howell; and fourteen great grandchildren.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.


Funeral Service will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the funeral home with private burial at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus Health or the American Cancer Society.
