Margaret grew up in Germantown area of Louisville and attended Manual High School. Before marriage and raising a family, she had a career as a radiology technician. On a blind date, she met a hockey player - student athlete named Grant. They would eventually remain married for the next 65 years, until her passing.
Margaret had many areas of interest. She was passionate about her pets and local animal welfare. She organized multiple fundraisers, including golf scrambles. Additionally, Margaret was a life-long card player, beginning with her playing pinochle at the German-American club at age 7. She was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan; who frequently cheered, yelled, and/or cussed at the TV depending on the team's performance. Even when she was hospitalized, the staff would come in her room and ask her to keep it down during the games. Margaret had a strong, outgoing personality and created numerous friendships during her life.
Recently, she expressed that her life had been very full and with few exceptions, she loved all of it and just about everyone she met. She enjoyed close relationships with her German relatives and travelled to Germany on several occasions. She easily made friends with people from all walks of life. Margaret and Grant opened up their home and sponsored Giscard Ciney and family from Haiti to stay with them. Margaret developed a very special relationship with Giscard, his wife, Ketley, and their children Elisha, Carly, and Kinley.
