Louisville, Kentucky - Margaret "Peggy" Tate, age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 7,
2026, in Louisville. She was born on October 1, 1937, in Nelson County, Kentucky and lived
most of her life in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was a loving and generous wife, mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Linda Tate, Gary Tate (Bobbie), Paul Tate, Barbara Boehmler,
Phillip Tate (Tina), and Deanna Pendley (Royce), six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Marta Tomes, her brothers, Joseph Vittitow (Margaret),
Samuel Vittitow, and John Vittitow as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion Tate, her parents Robert and
Rebecca Vittitow, her sisters, Jane Rivera and Patricia Hancock and her brothers, James Vittitow
and Frank Vittitow.
Peggy was an accomplished cook and seamstress, talents she shared generously with her family
and community. She volunteered at her children's schools and lovingly made caps for cancer
patients, always finding ways to help others. Her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength will be
remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Legacy Funeral
Center - Scott Chapel, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children in memory of
Peggy.
