New Albany, IN - Mary Hitner Egle, 94, went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her family on the morning of January 30, 2025. Mary was born March 27, 1930 in Edwardsville, IN to Thomas Oliver Hitner and Nancy Edith Hitner.
She raised her family in Lanesville, was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and a volunteer with Revelation Tabernacle Food Pantry. Mary enjoyed birds, flowers, stick shift convertibles, and loved everyone she met.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Egle; her son, Greg Egle; brothers, Fred Hitner, Albert Hitner, Maurice Hitner, and Willard Hitner; sisters, Margarite Tripure, Irma Jane Scott, Nella Mae Martin, Dorothy Hublar, and Emma Rae Kerr.
She is survived by Barbara Eisenmenger and Christi Stewart (Scott); Connie Egle and Rick Eisenmenger. She was grandmother to Eric Eisenmenger, Beth Baylor (Adam), Dustin Benjamin (Katy), Hana Rose Toupin (Neil), Andy Egle, Clifton Egle, Ben Stewart (Ruth), and Brian Stewart. Her great-grandchildren include Luke and Blake Elizabeth Baylor, Margaret Benjamin, Wren, Lilou and Minna Toupin, and Arthur and Margaux Stewart.
Visitation will be held at Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home, Oak Street Chapel, 1846 E. Oak Street, Friday, February 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Saturday, February 8 at 11 a.m.
