New Albany, Indiana - Mary Lou Slone, born on January 23, 1932, in Sellersburg, Indiana to the late James and Elizabeth McCarty, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old.

Mary Lou was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to her family. Her vibrant personality and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met. As a longtime member of the Red Hat Society, she cherished the friendships and camaraderie she found there. Her love for animals was well known, and she was a proud supporter of the Humane Society.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her son, Ken Slone; her infant daughter, Sandra Slone; and her sister, Martha Holzworth. She leaves behind to cherish her memory the love of her life, her beloved husband of 75 years, Don Slone; daughter, Janet Streander (Tom Nichols); her son, Bob Slone; her grandson, Jonathon Streander; her granddaughter, Cassie Slone; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Streander, Jackson Streander, and Ziggy May.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Mary Lou touched are invited to Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, for visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate Mary Lou's remarkable life.

The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society in honor of Mary Lou's love for animals.
