Sellersburg, Indiana - Mary Juanita Naugle, a beloved resident of Sellersburg, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 25th, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in New Albany, Indiana, on Tuesday, October 13th, 1942, Mary lived a life full of warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Lloyd "Bruce" Naugle; her loving children, Deron Naugle (Jamie) and Meleah Naugle; her cherished granddaughter, Caitlin Richey (Gerel); and her great-grandson, Maddox Richey, who brought immense joy to her later years. She is also survived by her brother, EC Birkla (Amy), and her niece, Ella Birkla. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Birkla and Irene Coley, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
For many years, Mary worked in the cafeteria at Silver Creek High School, where she embodied her philosophy that she'd never met a stranger. With her gift of gab and welcoming smile, she formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of many students and staff. Her love for her work was only matched by her love for her garden, which was renowned for its beauty throughout the neighborhood, a testament to her nurturing spirit until her health declined.
The family invites friends and loved ones to gather for a visitation at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will be held at 1:00 pm at the same location. Mary will be laid to rest at Sellersburg Cemetery following the funeral service.
