Henryville, Indiana - Merlin "Harvey" Basham, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his home in Henryville, Indiana. Harvey was born on June 22, 1933 in Brandenburg, Kentucky, the son of the late Harvey Daniel Basham and Nina Jewel (Adkisson) Whelan. Harvey Basham, a loving daddy, papaw, brother, and friend who lived his life with integrity, kindness, and generosity will always be loved and deeply missed. Harvey retired from Smith Transfer American Freight System in 1988. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #89 for 67 years and an active member of the Masonic Lodge #39 F. & A.M. of New Albany, IN as well as a Scottish Rite Mason of Evansville, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marie (Smith) Basham, daughters, Mary Louise Speaks, Robin Anderson, Sharon Chambers, grandson, Scott Allen, brothers, Kenneth Wilcox, Melvin "Shelby" Wilcox, Danny Basham, sister, Jewell Rodgers and companion, Mary Robinson.

He is survived by his sons, William (Janet) Basham, Lanesville, IN; Joseph (Beverly) Basham, Sellersburg, IN; Leonard (Delisa) Basham, Sellersburg, IN; James Basham, Charlestown, IN; daughters, Linda Warmouth, Henryville, IN; Charlotte Hall, Borden, IN; sisters, Phyllis Richards, Jeffersonville, IN; Connie Basham, Louisville, KY; brothers, William Wilcox, Louisville, KY; Johnny Whelan; 22 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 2019 at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, Indiana from 4 p.m. ET - 8 p.m. with the Masonic service starting at 7 p.m. ET by the New Albany Masonic Lodge #39 F. & A.M.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the funeral home with visitation from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, Henryville, IN.
