Norma E. Bierod Obituary
Georgetown, Indiana - Norma was born to Stoy and Bonnie love in 1925, and she was part of a large family that was raised on a farm in Georgetown, Indiana. She met a neighbor boy, Harold Bierod, who later became her husband of 71 years. Together they raised 4 children and eventually established a farm of their own in Georgetown in 1968, where they resided together until Harold's passing in 2014.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Norma was the bookkeeper for Harold's trucking company and farm. She also worked outside the home at the office of Dr. Robert and Dr. Donald LaFollette in New Albany, and later at the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville.
Harold and Norma were both members of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, starting in 1943, until their respective passing's, which totals 83 years of church membership for Norma. They were members of the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School class for decades, where they developed lifelong bonds of Christian fellowship and friendships. Norma also assisted in the church nursery for years, as she loved being a mother and helping with babies and children for her church family.
Some activities that Harold & Norma enjoyed together included bowling in a league, playing cards with friends, (pinochle, rook and euchre) and square dancing together, where they traveled to different venues to dance with other couples in their group. Norma also hosted a group of ladies for a bunco club for several years, which she really enjoyed.
After Harold's passing, Norma entered a new chapter of her life. She moved into an assisted living unit at Guerin Woods, where she lived for the last 9 years. There she established new friendships, and she enjoyed working on group puzzles in the common area with the other residents. She celebrated her 100th birthday last July with family and friends present to enjoy the momentous milestone.
Norma is predeceased by her parents, Stoy and Bonnie Love, a sister, Wanda Holden, and her brothers William, Robert and Kenneth Love. She is survived by one brother, Donald Love, her four children Ronald Bierod (Betty), Janis Allen, Barbara Moore (Mike), and Bryan Bierod (Tina), as well as 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be managed by Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown on Friday June 26, 2026. Viewing for family only will be from 10 am to 11am, with public visitation from 11am to 2pm. The funeral will immediately follow visitation at 2pm, with interment at Tunnel Hill Cemetery.
