Paul Eugene Guernsey, 87, of rural Henryville, IN, a lifelong Clark County resident, passed away at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home.
Born March 28, 1929 in Speed, IN, he was the son of Samuel Jesse Guernsey and Mary Neal (Stoner) Guernsey.
He retired from the former Louisville Cement in 1972, worked at Van Wenn Auto Parts, Moore Security, and Sinclair Gas Station in Hamburg, IN. Paul was a United States Army Veteran where he served in WW II and the Korean War. He was a Honorary Clark County Sherriffs Deputy, a member of Fishermans Paradise Christian Church, and American Legion Post #204. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, shooting, horse trading, and antiquing.
On May 22, 1952 he Married Nancy Lee (Botorff) Guernsey who passed away on June 11, 2006.
Survivors include his children, Karen L. (Emmett) Baxter of Henryville, IN, Paula Faye Bean of Miami, FL, Terry Paul (Dawn Storm Begley) Guernsey of Henryville, IN, John Thomas Guernsey of Henryville, IN, and Pamela Jo (Steven Douglas) Slider of Henryville, IN; nine grandchildren, Donavan Baxter, Angela Gale Bean, Robbie Warren Bean, Michael Paul Bean, Torrie Odette, Karri Jean Louis, Skylar Rae Guernsey, Rachel Lynn Dolbare, Nancy Jean Slider; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife and five brothers, Harold, Les, Sam, Alfred, and Carl Guernsey.
Pastor Danny McDonald will conduct funeral services: 11 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Safe Harbor Christian Church with burial to follow at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Safe Harbor Christian Church.
Memorial donations may be given to: American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Project, and American Legion Post # 204 in Sellersburg, IN c/o Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 209 S. Ferguson St., Henryville, IN 47126.
