Richard Earl "Curly Jack" Jackson, 80, of Henryville, IN, passed away at 11:19 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Richard was born on Thursday, December 18, 1941, in a log cabin on Daisy Hill in Borden, IN. He was the son of Glen and Nettie ( Jackson) Jackson.
On January 17, 1966, Richard married Martha Ann (Cain) Jackson at the Pekin Church of Christ in New Pekin, IN.
Richard was a 1960 Borden High School Class graduate. After high school he enlisted and served in the United States Army. He was very proud that he served his country and was a devoted Patriot all of his life. He was an engineer at CSX Railroad in Louisville, KY and retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #35 in Jeffersonville, IN. He was always working, enjoyed working outside, making his yard look nice, sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, and adopted a cat that just showed up at his house. He was a sharp dresser and liked to always look nice. He was friendly, talkative, never met a stranger, humorous, always had a joke to tell, tenderhearted, cared deeply, had a huge heart, and was truly an amazing man. He loved his family, and his life revolved around them.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Ann (Cain) Jackson; two sons, Steven Jackson of Austin, IN and Jared Jackson of Charlestown, IN; three grandchildren, Evan Jackson, Jordan Jackson, and Logan Hall; great-grandchildren, Xander and Lyla Jackson; bonus great-grandchildren, Kylie and Tristen Greenwood, Kamilla (Jim) Bush of Olathe, KA and Anita (Jack) Thomas of Borden, IN.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Nettie Jackson, one daughter, Stephanie Jackson who is Steven's twin sister, and one sister, Cletes Bush.
A celebration of life will be on Friday, September 2, 2022. Friends and family may visit and pay your respects to the family from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Henryville.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Richard to the Sellersburg American Legion Post #204 c/o Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 209 S. Ferguson Street, Henryville, IN 47126.
