Robert Tyler Oakes
Robert Tyler Oakes, 97, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Harrison County Hospital. He was born in New Albany, IN., and was an Air Force Veteran of World War II where he was a P.O.W., having flown 32 missions on a B17. He was a Partner and Owner of Applegate Oakes and Ritz Architects and he was a member of the Valley View Golf Club and St. Mark's United Church of Christ. He was a Past-President of the New Albany Country Club and the Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Oakes, his parents, Robert and Katie Oakes, his brother, Marvin Oakes and his sister Wilma Parr.
Survivors include his daughter, Alicia Lynne Oakes and her first husband Wayne Richard; two sons, Randy Oakes and his wife Missy, and Douglas Oakes and his wife Gail; seven grandchildren, Brandon Oakes (Elise), Brianne Linck (Joe), Remy Richard (Lauren), Jennifer Soroken (Arthur), Nicholas Oakes (Jessica), Jeananne Koetter (Jake) and Callie Oakes, and seven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at St. Mark's United Church of Christ (222 E. Spring St.) with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1846 E. Oak St.) from 2 - 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Mark's United Church of Christ.

Hi Guys,
So sorry to hear about Uncle Bob. Always enjoyed being with you all in the "good old days". He did make 97 years, which gave him time to spend with great-grandchildren. Really something to celebrate. What a blessed life.

RIH,Bob,you will be the kids, I'm glad I got to help your dad , enjoyed a cookout with him on the back deck.. and going to Daisy's with him,he loved waffles,..he was a great man!
