Robert Joseph Popp
Robert Joseph Popp, 86, of Sellersburg, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019. He was a United States Army veteran that served his country during the Korean War. Bob was a member of the K of C Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 and Telephone Pioneers of America. In his younger years, Bob was an outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting. He and his wife traveled across North America camping, and after retirement they became winter Texans at South Padre Island.
He was born on September 7, 1933 in Sellersburg, Indiana to the late Robert M. and Hedwig (Wundrak) Popp. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Book) Popp; son, Michael Popp; granddaughter, Alexandra Popp; and siblings, Theodore Popp, Edward Popp and Ann Marie Sanderfer.
Bob is survived by his children, David Popp (Pam), Cheryl Freiberger (Jim), Karen Schueler (Barry), Gary Popp (Julie), Brenda Robertson (Patrick); daughter-in-law, Patty Popp; brothers, Albert Popp (Doris), Charles Popp (Ilona); sister-in-law, Donna Popp; brother-in-law, William Sanderfer; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 St. Joe Road West, Sellersburg) with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
