Clarksville, Indiana - Roberta Ann Garrett (née Walter), was called home by her Heavenly Father on July 18, 2024 surrounded by family at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. She was born February 27, 1932 to Herman and Edith Benson Walter of Lanesville.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, homemaker, and had retired from Bruce Fox after 28 years of service. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg.

After retirement, she enjoyed swimming, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit # 28 of New Albany, since 2015.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lee Wood Garrett; their eldest son, Gregory Lee Garrett; and 11 of her siblings.

She is survived by one brother, Jude Walter of Lanesville; three children, Monica L. Zweydorff of Clarksville, John W. Garrett (Karen) of Elizabeth, and Jewell C. Bary (Jeff) of Depauw; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, who all knew her as "Granny Bert".

E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersonville is handling arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, July 26 from 2 to 7 pm (with rosary at 7 p.m). at Coots.. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Paul II Catholic Church at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests monetary donations in Bert's name to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Private burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon following cremation will take place at a later date.
