Ruth Anne Andres Obituary

Sellersburg, Indiana - Ruth Anne Andres, 82, of Sellersburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Ruth Anne was born on June 19, 1942 in Borden to the late Charles and Helen (Abbott) Davis. The youngest of eight children, she grew up in Borden before moving to Sellersburg in the eighth grade. A proud 1960 graduate of Silver Creek High School, Ruth Anne began her professional life as a secretary at the Speed Cement Plant. She later worked in the office at JC Penney and retired after 15 rewarding years as an Instructional Assistant for Greater Clark County Schools, where she worked at Thomas Jefferson, Maple, Pleasant Ridge, and Jonathan Jennings Elementary Schools.

Above all, Ruth Anne cherished her role as "Grammy." She retired to care for her three grandchildren daily, delighting in picking them up from school and attending their events as they grew older.

Ruth Anne enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking, often sharing her love through her homemade strawberry, blackberry, and grape jellies. She had been picking strawberries since childhood, a tradition she lovingly maintained. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ann Rogers Clark Chapter, and had a deep passion for researching her family history. Ruth Anne was also a devoted member of the Sellersburg Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Ruth Anne was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Francis, Norman (Bud), and Paul Davis; and her sisters, Norma Ellis and Marcella Grimes.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald (Ronnie) L. Andres; her son, Eric Andres; her daughter, Maria (Andres) Beyl (Scott); her sister, Marilyn Amos (Dennie); sisters-in-law, Wilma Davis and Donna Costin (Jim); brothers-in-law, Emory Grimes and Earl Bertrand; her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Maddie, and Jack Beyl; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Sellersburg Church of Christ, 213 S. New Albany Street, Sellersburg, with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
