Jeffersonville, Indiana - Ruth "Marie" Long, age 92 of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born to the late Dexter and Edith (Hartman) Crum, Marie lived a life filled with creativity, generosity, and deep love for her family and community. A devoted homemaker, she was also a gifted artist and painter, and for many years shared her talents as a floral designer at Cannon's Florist. Marie lovingly created flower arrangements for her family members' weddings, pouring her heart into each design as a reflection of her devotion to those she cherished most.

Marie had a joy for life that was seen in the little things — she delighted in finding the perfect gifts to shower her family and friends with thoughtful surprises. Her daily visits to the Blessing Box at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville reflected her boundless generosity, ensuring others would feel cared for and loved.

She shared 73 beautiful years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" Long, a love story marked by selfless devotion and faith. Together, they built a family rooted in kindness and service. Marie was a faithful Catholic. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and in recent years, a member of St. Augustine and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Churches. She was proud to participate in beautification of the church as a "Heavenly Duster" and as a holiday decorator. She treasured her friendships in "Young at Heart."

She was preceded in death by her son, Chick Long; her brother, Jimmy Crum (Carol Ann); and her sister, Joan Coomer (Gene). Marie leaves behind her loving husband, Chuck Long; sons, Gary Long (Shannon), Jimmy Long (Linda), Mike Long (Terri); daughter, Cathy Stoner (John); thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love and legacy in their hearts. The Long family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to St. Croix Hospice for the compassion and care shown during this tender time.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church (315 East Chestnut Street, Jeffersonville), with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
