Shirley Ann Fields Obituary

Shirley Ann Fields, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Baptist Health Louisville.

Born on August 8, 1943, to the late James and Delores Fields, Shirley was a dedicated nurse and a longtime member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church.

Shirley had a vibrant personality and a knack for making those around her feel welcome and cherished. She was an exceptional seamstress, known for creating beautiful garments with a touch of love and creativity. Her hands were rarely still, whether she was crocheting a blanket for a loved one or whipping up something amazing in the kitchen. Baking, candy-making, and family cookouts were her specialties.

When Shirley wasn't creating something by hand, she could be found enjoying life's simple pleasures. She was an avid traveler, particularly cherishing her time spent on cruise ships. She also enjoyed occasional "games-of-chance" often finding time to shout "Bingo" or celebrate a jackpot. However, above all, her greatest joy came from the love and laughter she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Shirley was steadfast in honoring the promise she made to her father and preserving the Fields' family legacy for generations to come.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jonea Brown, of Elizabethtown, KY; her son, Michael Fields, of Clarksville, IN; her grandchildren, Dennis Huggins II (Nicole), LeMichael Fields (Katie), Kevin Brown II (Destiny), Jahnai Brown, Jaiquan Brown, Kajier Fields, and Khalia Sims; her nine great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Kevin Brown; her siblings, Catherine Owens, Mary Handley, and Devin Fields; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Mae Stokes and Agnes Martin; brothers, James Fields Jr. and Cornelius Fields; and her beloved grandchildren, Janisha Brown and Malik Fields.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
