Jeffersonville, Indiana - Starletta Jean Holton, 66, was born on February 9, 1959, to the union of the late William and Willie Zell Holton. She departed her earthly life on April 28, 2025, in Arizona at her son David's home surrounded by love.
Star dedicated nearly 37 years to the children and families of Community Action of Southern Indiana's Head Start program. Her classroom was a place of love, laughter, and learning — built on her deep passion for early childhood education and her unwavering care for every child who walked through the door.
More than anything, Star was always smiling. Her joy was genuine, her presence comforting, and her kindness touched everyone she met. She didn't know a stranger, and no matter how busy she was, she was always willing to lend a helping hand — to coworkers, parents, and children alike. Whether it was jumping in to support another classroom or offering an encouraging word, Star was someone you could always count on.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Victoria; grandmother Emma Moody.
She is survived by her sons David Holton Sr. (Darnetta) of Avondale, AZ and Anthony Holton of Jeffersonville, IN; siblings Earla Washington, Curtis Green, Donald Green, Stephanie Nale, Phillip Holton, Steve Holton; grandchildren Jazmine Morrow, Davida Z. Holton, David L. Holton Jr., Todd Lee, Rita Washington, Tyesha Mill, Christopher Mills, Alan Mills, and Dustin Mills; best-friend and sister Linda Russell.
