Truman E. "Sonny" VanCleve Jr., 72, of Jeffersonville, IN passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2025.

Born on September 25, 1952 in Louisville, KY, Sonny was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dedicated son-in-law.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sheri VanCleve; his daughter, Stacy Blunk; his son, Derrick (Janet) VanCleve; and his cherished grandchildren, Ian Hublar, Derrick "DJ" VanCleve, Cameron VanCleve, Payten Mattingly, and Uriah VanCleve. He also leaves behind his sister, Linda Ethington, and his father-in-law, Fred Burton Jr.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Sr. and Dorothy VanCleve; his sister, Ora "Sugar" Cundiff; and his mother-in-law, Rhomance Burton.

A 1970 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, Sonny earned an associate degree in Industrial Maintenance. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975, earning the distinguished title of Sailor of the Quarter for Europe in 1972.

Sonny found joy in camping, sports, and celebrating the holidays with his family. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his sense of humor, and his generous spirit.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, on Friday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
