New Albany, Indiana - Venita Marie Lynch, 89, entered Eternal Life on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Born in New Albany, IN to the late Raymond "Dud" and Flora Banet, Venita lived a life rich in faith, love, and devotion. A steadfast and faithful Catholic, she found joy in serving at St. Augustine Catholic Church, where she nurtured deep friendships and strengthened her love for the Lord.
Venita's greatest calling was as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She poured her heart into her family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Her kitchen was the heart of that home, where she became famous for her legendary roast beef, dumplings, and perfectly crispy fried chicken—recipes that became cherished traditions for those she loved.
Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her. Though she has left this earthly life, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, in the faith she so deeply embraced, and in the many lives she touched with her generosity and grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lynch; daughter, Kathy Hobbs; siblings, Jerry Banet, Loretta Atkins, Raymond "Junie" Banet, Frankie Banet, and Elston Banet.
Survivors include her children, Leigh Ann Jacobi (Brian) and David Lynch (Becky Carfield); son-in-law, Ronnie Hobbs; grandchildren, Brittany Hobbs, Bradley Hobbs, Dr. Nicholas Lynch, Brianna Jacobi, Dr. Jonathan Lynch, and Natalie Jacobi; great-grandson Easton Hobbs; brothers, Edmund "Joe" Banet and David Banet (Ann); and sister-in-law, Petsy Thacker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. Mary of the Knobs, 3011 Martin Rd., Floyds Knobs, IN 47119, with burial to follow at a later date. Visitation will be held 12-5 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville.
