Virginia Louise Redd Miles
Funeral services for Virginia Louise Redd Miles, 79, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive in Jeffersonville, with burial to take place in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and from 10-12 noon on Saturday at the church. She passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
Virginia was born on July 31, 1940 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Lee Andrew Redd and Gladys Franklin Redd. She worked as an assistant teacher for 33 years at Greater Clark County Schools. Virginia was a longtime member of Bethel A.M.E. where she served on the usher board, was a class leader, a missionary, and sang in the choir. She was a life member of the NAACP, the Red Hatters Club, Angel Book Club, and The Conquistador's. Virginia was also an election pole worker for many years at Northaven Elementary School.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Craig L. Miles; and three siblings, Roger E. Redd, Dwight L. Redd, and Gwen Redd Rickman.
She is survived by her loving husband for 64 years, Reverend Leonard Lee Miles Sr.; three children, Pastor Leonard Lee Miles Jr. (Arlene); Clark E. Miles (Portia); Mark D. Miles (Herminion); a sister, Stephanie Redd Stephenson; a brother, Lee A. Redd Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Tanisha, Aerion, Mateesa, Chelsea, Chesna, Mark Jr., Kristy, Dimitri, Reginald, Ryan, Hannah; nine great grandchildren, Amari, Mekaria, Aeriona, Kynlie, Alexander, Maxwell, Elliot, Ava and Kaleb; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who loved her as she loved them dearly.
