Wilda Lee Carrico (Melissa) Obituary

Big Rapids, Michigan - WILDA LEE CARRICO maiden name Wilda Lee Cooper. Originally from New Albany, IN. passed peacefully with her loving family around her in Big Rapids MI on the 31st of August. Wilda had a long and distinguished career as a teacher and principal in several states. She taught in Clarksville, Indiana early in her career. She also was a graduate of New Albany High School, and went on to The University of Murray State, where she got her degree in education; she touched many lives and taught many young people who went on to be some of the most spectacular people on this planet, some who still checked in on her every day that had had her in grammar school. She truly had a gift for teaching, and she also ran youth groups for her local church. She was a unique and special individual who had a fantastic sense of humor and enjoyed people in general. She is survived by her loving daughter, Zelma Lee Tenhoopen, son Brian Tenhoopen And her husband, Charles W. Carrico and her daughter Tillie Searsand all of her great-grandchildren by James and Lonnie Sears. Her grandchildren who she had recently seen and was so proud of them all, and she also especially loved her grandson, David, who constantly loved to wait on her hand and foot, which she so deserved. She and Charles moved from Forest Hill, California in 2019 right before Covid to live with her daughter Zelma and her son-in-law Brian Tenhoopen. She also absolutely adored her nephew Benjamin Dean, who always came to visit her and had just visited her the month before. She is irreplaceable and we her family will miss her desperately, but we were very lucky. We got to live with her and laugh with her all these years together. May God bless her as she is asleep in Christ until he comes again. There was a private memorial service held for her for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Corewell Health Hospice.
